About East Wichita

I live on the east side, so this one's personal. East Wichita runs from the older neighborhoods near College Hill all the way out to newer neighborhoods toward Andover and Bel Aire. Wichita State, Wesley Medical Center, Koch Industries, and Textron Aviation's East Campus are all over here.

Over the last year, the typical existing home in East Wichita sold for about $236,000, and prices are up about 33% since 2021. Homes here are mostly established. The median year built is 1958.

One thing to know up front: the northeast and the southeast feel very different. Different prices, different school districts, different drives to work. So I'll walk you through both.

Northeast Wichita vs. Southeast Wichita

The northeast has the highest prices of any quadrant in Wichita, with a median of about $282,000 over the last year. About 12% of its sales were in Andover USD 385 and about 6% were in Circle USD 375.

The southeast is one of the more affordable parts of the city, at about $180,000. It also has more new construction than any other quadrant, about 11% of recent sales. It's the closest part of Wichita to McConnell Air Force Base and Boeing's south Wichita campus.
